Commemoration of St. Prisca, Virgin and Martyr

Green Fourth Class

This Roman virgin suffered martyrdom at the age of thirteen, under the Emperor Claudius in the first century.

On this day, the Mass of the previous Sunday is offered, with commemorations of St. Prisca after the Collect, Secret, and Postcommunion. The Gloria and Creed are not said, and the Common Preface is used.

Alternatively, the priest may, at his option, offer the Mass 'Me Exspectaverunt Peccatores' of St. Prisca, with the following Collect, Secret, and Postcommunion. He may also choose to offer a Requiem Mass or Votive Mass.

COLLECT ¤ COMMEMORATION OF ST. PRISCA
Grant, we beseech Thee, O almighty God, that we who celebrate the heavenly birthday of blessed Prisca, Thy Virgin and Martyr, may both rejoice in her yearly festival and profit by the example of so great a faith. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, Who with Thee liveth and reigneth in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, world without end.

SECRET ¤ COMMEMORATION OF ST. PRISCA
We beseech Thee, O Lord, may this Sacrifice which we offer in commemoration of the heavenly birthday of Thy Saints, both loosen the bonds of our iniquity and obtain for us the gifts of Thy mercy. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, who liveth and reigneth with Thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, world without end.

POSTCOMMUNION ¤ COMMEMORATION OF ST. PRISCA
We beseech Thee, O Lord, that we who have been fed with these saving Mysteries, may ever be helped by the prayers of her whose festival we are keeping. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, Who with Thee liveth and reigneth in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, world without end.
